Starting a handcrafted business is more than just following your passion.
I am Leny D. Yanoria, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a bank cashier started my business in 2013 by selling school supplies, costumes and other gift items when my children were in pre-elementary school. While being a full time mom I joined trade fairs and bazaars in Los Banos and nearby places.
Doing handcrafted fashion accessories is my interest in 2017, through a friend and also a mentor I started creating handcrafted fashion accessories that turned into Leny Handy Crafts. The business focuses on creating accessories like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, chokers, headbands, mermaid bows, and on the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic, I added the facemask holder.
During the pandemic, I did not stop looking for a way on how the business will grow and develop. I continued by selling online and joining bazaars again and trade fairs. My knowledge in managing a business was further solidified by joining the Kapatid Mentor ME-Money Market Encounter (KMME-MME) Program for online sellers organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE). In this I was able to learn more aspects of strengthening and developing my business through attending modules.
In addition, my handcrafted fasion accessories were gradually making it to the market by being able to join different trade fairs in different places through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna. I was able to meet also different people, make friends, and the people that inspire me to continue my passion.
